Ajax are still reeling from being pillaged of many of their top talents and key figures this summer, with Manchester United at the heart of it.
Manager Erik ten Hag left Ajax for Old Trafford, and promptly returned to sign Lisandro Martinez and Antony.
And this was just one window. Ajax won’t want to hear it, but Ten Hag and United may be back in the future.
One player he is clearly interested in is Brian Brobbey, a player he re-signed on loan in January, and was reported by BILD to be keen on this summer. Eventually the striker rejoined Ajax permanently.

Brobbey plans to watch a lot of Manchester United
Brobbey conducted a round of media interviews after being named Eredivisie Talent of the Month.
The striker told ESPN Netherlands, ‘Manchester United’, when asked where he wants to play in the future, Voetbal Primeur reports.
There was contact this summer, but Brobbey felt he needed to finish his journey at Ajax, where he is the current first choice striker, after Sebastien Haller’s sale.
He explained, via Voetbal International: “Erik [ten Hag] sent me a message, yes. To congratulate me, and to say that he would love to have me in Manchester. But I’m not done with Ajax yet, I want to show something here first. I think I left a little too early [in 2021].
“I want to do the same as Ryan Gravenberch: bring the club a lot of money in a few years.”
Despite choosing to delay his Manchester United dream for now, Brobbey says he intends to pay close attention to how his former manager is getting on.
He told Volkskrant: “I will soon be sitting in front of the TV for Erik.
“I don’t particularly look at the strikers. I’m looking for Erik ten Hag.”
Brobbey has scored two goals and provided two assists in five games for Ajax this season, and the feeling is probably mutual with Ten Hag, he too will likely be watching to see how he is getting on.
