Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has been hailed as a ‘top striker’ by one of Erik ten Hag’s former Ajax players.
The deal is done and United have their new striker.
Hojlund has joined United in a huge deal worth up to £72million and was presented at Old Trafford before Saturday’s 3-1 win over Lens.
The Dane is far from the finished product but has shown enough potential for United to splash the cash.
Nine league goals in Serie A isn’t a sensational record but the pace and power Hojlund provides means Erik ten Hag has taken the plunge.
Expectations should be tempered for Hojlund’s first season at United but the hope is that he can become a superstar down the line.
Rasmus Hojlund receives message from Mohamed Daramy
Hojlund has now taken to Instagram after securing his move to United – his boyhood club.
The striker celebrated joining ‘the biggest club in the world’ before receiving a number of messages from players.
One those to reply was Ajax winger Mohamed Daramy, who knows all about Hojlund.

The pair came up in the Copenhagen ranks together and emerged into the first team, whilst they have also played together in the Denmark national team setup.
Daramy sent just two words to Hojlund, calling him a ‘top striker’ alongside three heart-eyes emojis.

Hojlund will hope for better fortunes under Erik ten Hag
Another thing linking Hojlund and Daramy is Ten Hag.
The United boss signed Daramy for Ajax back in August 2021 having been attracted to his potential at Copenhagen.
Daramy looked like a real wonderkid but made just 12 league appearances under Ten Hag, scoring only once.
The 21-year-old returned to Copenhagen on loan last season and is now nearing a move to United’s Premier League rivals Burnley.
Hojlund will hope to make a much bigger impact under Ten Hag and ultimately prove Daramy right for calling him a ‘top striker’.
