Ajax have possible replacement lined up for Manchester United target Antony

Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Ajax forward Antony with the Eredivisie champions reportedly lining up a possible replacement for the Brazilian.

Antony is a key transfer target for United, with The Times reporting he is ‘determined’ to join the club and reunite with Erik ten Hag.

However, The Times report that the Amsterdam giants want close to £70 million for the 22-year-old.

90min report that Ajax are willing to sell their number 11, who scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists under Ten Hag last season, if their hefty asking price is met.

The report also states that the Champions League side have already identified a possible replacement in Porto’s Francisco Conceicao.

With Mason Greenwood still not being considered for selection, Amad is the only left-footed attacking forward player at Ten Hag’s disposal following Juan Mata’s departure as a free agent.

Antony, who liked Fred’s Instagram post after United’s 4-0 win against Liverpool in Ten Hag’s first game in charge, would certainly bolster and improve United’s forward line.

After being signed by Ten Hag from Sau Paulo two years ago, the nine-time Brazil international has become a star under the tutelage of his former manager.

In 79 games under the 52-year-old, the South American has 22 goals and 20 assists to his name.

Although Ajax may be seemingly preparing for Antony’s departure, given they’ve reportedly lined up a replacement, United could face stern competition to land Ten Hag’s former starlet.

After missing out on Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona, 90min also report that Chelsea are interested in bringing Antony to Stamford Bridge after missing out on two left-footed forward targets this summer.
