Manchester United’s move for Adrien Rabiot has not been the most popular of potential transfer move so far.
Former United ace Lou Macari told MUTV he was concerned other teams had not been chasing Rabiot, and commented last week: “I just get a bad feeling about the guy.”
The mood for the move has been dampened further by reports from The Athletic that James Garner could be sold permanently to make way for the Frenchman.
The Times reports a £19 million fee has been agreed with Juventus which is £15 million plus £4 million in add-ons.

Rabiot deserves full support
Despite all these misgivings, when Adrien Rabiot’s deal for Manchester United goes through, he should get the full backing of supporters.
Rabiot is making a conscious choice to join United at a time when the club are at it’s lowest ebb. Gary Neville told Sky Sports last night [15/8] he could anticipate a bottom half finish this season.
Lesser characters may balk at the challenge and walk away. Rabiot appears ready to embrace it, and this should be admired.
Among Rabiot’s strengths are his positioning, work rate and tenacity; he likes to get involved, and he will add physicality and technique to a United midfield lacking in both.
The Frenchman can add some fresh energy to the team, and some fight. United were rolled over too easily against Brentford, were a team totally lacking in character.
Rabiot can add much-needed personality to the United midfield, and this will help win over supporters. The Frenchman may only turn out to be part of the puzzle too.
If the transfer deadline passes and Rabiot is one two midfield additions, then the outlook on his transfer could take on a very different shape.
Regardless, he deserves the full support of the fanbase even if he is the lone addition. Improving this United midfield is a thankless task for one individual player, and Rabiot will need all the help he can get.
