Manchester United could receive an immediate boost to the club’s summer transfer funds if the proposed takeover goes through.
According to The Mail, Manchester United will benefit by an additional £50 million as soon as a takeover is processed, whether it is Sir Jim Ratcliffe or Sheikh Jassim in charge.
This is because debt interest payments would be immediately paid off, whichever one of the bidders is successful.
Debt interest payments count on the annual accounts which weigh against the club’s permittable budget under Financial Fair Play. Paying these off increases the amount the club can spend.
The report notes that whoever wins the takeover race, cannot simply plough in £500 million to spend on new signings.
United are bound by football’s finance governance rules, which restricts the club’s spending, because the Red Devils owe £300 million in unpaid transfer fees, report The Mail.

£50 million would help Manchester United transfers
Manchester United’s transfer budget is claimed to be around £100 million plus player sales. The Mail report this could stretch to £120 million.
Add an extra £50 million on top would help dramatically. This itself would pay for Mason Mount.
It could be the different between signing top goalkeeper option Diogo Costa, or settling for a short-term option like Yann Sommer.
This would not even require any strategic input from Jassim or Ratcliffe with the club’s existing recruitment team.
It would simply be a case of paying off the club’s interest payments, creating more funds which can be spent.
The takeover is dragging on, with no clear timeline of when a deal could finally be completed.
But even if it takes until mid-August, getting an additional £50 million freed to add the budget could make a real difference.
So long as it doesn’t drag on until after the transfer deadline.
