Anthony Martial was once again shocking against Arsenal. He probably won’t lead the line for the Red Devils in the Premier League for the rest of the season.
It was arguably the last chance saloon for Anthony Martial. The Frenchman had his chance today to show Erik ten Hag he deserves to still be within a shout to start for the Red Devils – he did the exact opposite.
Martial was lost once again. He was dominated by both Arsenal centre-backs throughout the entirety of the 67 minutes he was on the pitch and didn’t provide anything going forward in regard to goal-scoring.
Now with Rasmus Hojlund entering the frame, who actually impressed, it’s hard to see how Martial will read the line again for United this season in the Premier League.

Anthony Martial vs Arsenal
It’s no surprise that Ten Hag was keen on shipping Martial out this summer, his stats speak for themselves against the Gunners.
Gathered from Sofascore, here are some of the statistics the striker achieved in just over an hour in the clash.
- Shots on Target – 1
- Shots off Target – 0
- Dribles Attempted (succ) – 0 (0)
- Touches – 0
- Possession Lost – 4
- xG – 0.05
Now stats aren’t everything, but anybody watching the game can all agree that Martial isn’t up to the standard to be leading the line at Old Trafford.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Thank goodness for Hojlund
All we can say is thank goodness for Hojlund. The Danish striker looked lively during his brief came at the Emirates and is no doubt ready to start the next fixture and lead the line.
If we were without him this season, it’s mighty difficult to see where the goals would come from.
Marcus Rashford would have to be deployed up top, whereas he is so much more effective on the left. It leaves hope that United can kick on and score goals for the rest of the campaign.
In Martial’s case, his time is up. He’ll play cup fixtures and come on as a sub, but his days of being a Manchester United starter are well and truly over.
