Manchester United have a patched up defence ahead of this week’s Champions League tie with Galatasaray.
Lisandro Martinez is the latest Manchester United defender to suffer an injury, which could rule him out until 2024.
United’s defence will be tested by Galatasaray’s in-form striker, Argentine star Mauro Icardi.
Icardi, 30, is enjoying a superb start to the season, with his team unbeaten in the Turkish Super Lig, six wins and one draw.

Mauro Icardi record
Mauro Icardi has scored 10 goals in 12 matches in all competitions for Galatasaray this season, including seven in seven Super Lig matches.
Those seven goals are the same number Manchester United’s entire team have mustered in Premier League games this season.
United have a total of 13 goals in all competitions, narrowly ahead of Icardi.
This shows both how prolific Icardi has been early on this season, and how toothless Manchester United have been in attack.
It’s no flash in the pan either. Icardi scored 23 in 26 goals for Galatasaray last season, and now has a total of 33 in 38 games for the club, finding a happy new home after a mixed spell with Paris Saint-Germain.
United were linked to Icardi
Mauro Icardi is a striker who has been linked with moves to Manchester United previously, when he was at Inter Milan.
The Sun claimed he would cost around £70 million in 2019, suggesting interest from United, but the Red Devils did not pursue a deal.
The Mirror reported Icardi was open to a move to United in 2022, prior to his move to Galatasaray.
Now, he is heading to Old Trafford as an opponent, and his goal record means he is full of confidence and will pose a real threat.
