Former Manchester United man Henrikh Mkhitaryan absolutely tore AC Milan to shreds this weekend.
Inter Milan ran out 5-1 winners in the first Milan derby of the 23/24 season, in what was a complete and utter domination from the home side.
The win saw Inter carry on their 100% record this season and also gave Milan their first loss – pushing them down to third place below Juventus.
At the heart of it all was ex-Manchester United man Henrikh Mkhitaryan – who put in a man of the match display in Italy’s capital.
Magic Mkhi in Milan
The Armenian was magic in Derby della Madonnina. The 34-year-old opened the scoring in the fifth minute, which set the tone for the rest of the fixture.
Manchester United linked forward Marcus Thuram then doubled their lead before Portuguese winger Rafael Leao got one back.
But Mkhitaryan made sure the game was put to bed as he added a third – his second of the game. Hakan Calhanoglu then added a fourth via a penalty, before the match was rounded off by David Fratessi to make it five – with Mkhi providing the assist.

Ex-Red Devil Matteo Darmian also featured, but Alexis Sanchez had to watch the rout from the sidelines.
Mkhitaryan game by numbers
Here is a breakdown of some of the finest stats from Mkhitaryan’s man-of-the-match performance in the derby.
Evidently, despite his age, there’s still a phenomenal player there.
He was a strange player for Manchester United. Mkhi produced occasional moments of absolute brilliance, the scorpion kick comes to mind, but then in other fixtures would simply ghost.
He was regarded as a bit too lightweight for the Premier League, but now it appears he’s thriving once more in Italy. Good on him!
