Manchester United youngster Dan Gore is being tipped to follow Hannibal Mejbri into the Red Devils first team.

Hannibal Mejbri stated the case for youth at the weekend, with the 20-year-old Tunisian showcasing a mixture of energy and quality on the ball in 1-0 win over Burnley.

More young players could be in the squad for the Carabao Cup game against Crystal Palace tonight.

One in particular has been tipped to make a breakthrough and follow Hannibal’s success.

Dan Gore ‘most likely’

Alejandro Garnacho is a first team regular already at Manchester United, stepping up almost immediately after winning the FA Youth Cup in 2022.

Kobbie Mainoo is poised to make an impact when he is fit again after injury. However, he is not quite ready to do so yet.

Instead, The Guardian described Dan Gore as ‘the most likely to make an impact in the first team sooner rather than later’, among the FA Youth Cup winning class.

The outlet report Gore ‘will be hoping a first-team debut arrives at Old Trafford on Tuesday’.

Gore, 18, was on the bench in the Champions League against Bayern Munich and made a strong impression in pre-season, providing an assist in the 1-0 win over Lyon.

It is not thought he will be in contention to start against Palace, however, he is likely to be in the matchday squad and could appear as a substitute.

The report adds that Gore ‘could be the perfect candidate’ for minutes, reasoning he “is guaranteed to bring energy to any side, a trait lacking in some United performances this season. Gore is technically gifted and eager to embrace the combative nature of elite football.”

The young midfielder showed this in pre-season when he was a little unlucky to be shown a red card against Wrexham for a strong tackle. It warranted a yellow card at most, and at least demonstrated he won’t shy away from the physical element of the game.

Gore can benefit from Mainoo absence

Kobbie Mainoo is training individually and could make his first team return at some point within around a fortnight.

It’s crucial if Gore does get an opportunity, he seizes it, because Mainoo is expected to bump him back down the midfield pecking order.

The pair are teammates, but for now, they are competing for limited opportunities in the United first team mix.
