On a night of disappointing individual performances along with a woeful team effort, Matheus Cunha stood out for the wrong reasons.

Wolves held Manchester United to a draw at Old Trafford, upsetting the form book, while the Red Devils remain as unpredictable as ever.

Prior to this game Wolves had only two points all season. Now they have three, but truth be told, United played so badly that the visiting side could have won the game.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, and United supporters were left frustrated to drop more points at home. The team has now won just one of the last five matches at Old Trafford.

There were numerous poor performances, and chief among them was Matheus Cunha.

Was that Matheus Cunha’s worst game so far for Manchester United?

What went wrong? Was Cunha trying to do too much?

Cunha disappoints vs Wolves

Matheus Cunha had a big opportunity to step up against his former club, and despite lots of effort, the quality was not there.

Cunha underwhelmed on his previous game against Wolves at Molineux, but was bailed out by Bryan Mbeumo, Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes.

With that trio all missing, plus Amad, the pressure was on Cunha to step up, and he failed to produce.

Cunha did not manage a single shot on target, and nor he did create a single goalscoring chance.

It was a flat performance, where he managed only two touches inside the Wolves box.

Cunha had only one goalscoring attempt, and failed to complete a single successful dribble.

He won only six of 13 duels he competed for, and while he picked up five fouls, United failed to use them to an advantage.

Wolves were well prepared to face their former player, who did not look like a £62 million talent.

This was the type of match where United needed Cunha to showcase his talent. But without his creative teammates around him, he looked lost.

Who was Manchester United’s most DISAPPOINTING player vs Wolves?

Matheus Cunha has made progress, this was a backwards step

Matheus Cunha has made good progress at Manchester United in recent weeks, even voted as man of the match in the recent draw with Bournemouth.

This performance was a major setback, and one that he must not dwell on too much.

Cunha at times looked to be trying to do too much, similarly against Newcastle too, and needs to try and keep it a little simpler.

United desperately need Mount and Fernandes back, plus the team’s AFCON stars.
