When is Southampton v Manchester United on TV?

United play Southampton on Saturday 27 August 2022.

United drew both fixtures against the Saints 1-1 last season, and both matches saw the home side go in front before being pegged back in the second half.

Southampton v Manchester United kick off time

The game gets underway at 12.30pm.

This is a rare Saturday game for United this season, with so many of their other fixtures in the early part of the campaign moved to Sunday to accommodate the Europa League, for which of course the draw was made yesterday.

Which kit will Manchester United wear vs Southampton?

United will wear their third kit against Southampton, because their other two will clash.

The green number got a first outing against Brentford in United’s last away game and we will hope for a better outcome here.

It is to be hoped that new signing Casemiro is seen wearing it for the first time.

United’s choice of away kit at Southampton has created headlines in the past.

Back in April 1996, United wore their grey away kit at the Dell and went in 3-0 down at half time.

Gary Neville shared in August 2019 exactly why Sir Alex Ferguson ordered United to change at half-time.

The legendary boss didn’t feel United’s players could pick each other out in the grey strip, but there will be no such problems this weekend, hopefully en route to another three points.

Southampton v Manchester United team news

Anthony Martial picked up an Achilles injury against Liverpool and it has already been confirmed that he will miss this game.

Casemiro is fit to play, and Erik ten Hag has also already said that Cristiano Ronaldo is fit to play in this game.

Victor Lindelof is also out of the game, but should be fit enough to return to training tomorrow ahead of the clash with Leicester.

Our prediction: Southampton v Manchester United

United have lost every single Premier League away game since the February win over Leeds United under Ralf Rangnick.

That record desperately has to change and United must build on the momentum generated by the win over Liverpool.

Southampton have come from behind to get results in their last two matches, which suggests they can be got at but also that they never say die.

Another 1-1 would be so frustrating and kill the Monday night momentum, so we will go with a 2-1 win for United.
