Brentford v Manchester United team news

Anthony Martial picked up a hamstring injury against Atletico Madrid which kept him out of the loss against Brighton and he will also miss this game.

Ten Hag has also confirmed that Victor Lindelof, another player who missed that defeat, will also not play any part here.

He also said that Cristiano Ronaldo had trained well this week, and it remains to be seen if the Portuguese superstar makes his first start of the season here.

Facundo Pellistri has an ankle injury which will stop him going on loan and also preclude him taking part in the next few weeks of matches.

Our prediction: Brentford v Manchester United

United really struggled in the first half of this fixture last season and the game also saw Cristiano Ronaldo throw something of a tantrum because he was substituted.

It will be a test of United’s new pressing game to stop Thomas Frank’s side playing their football and getting into passing patterns.

The players should be looking to get over last weekend’s abject result and performance by getting their season belatedly off and running.

This one could have goals in it and we’ll go with a 3-2 win for United.
