Manchester United have progressed to the FA Cup quarter-finals, after beating Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
As is frequently the case with Manchester United, the winner on Wednesday night was left late as Erik ten Hag‘s reds marched onto the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 1-0 win.
Awaiting United in the next round is a tricky task against Liverpool at Old Trafford which won’t be easy but victory could see a real chance at silverware develop.
The winner against Forest came from Casemiro as the Brazilian headed home Bruno Fernandes‘ free-kick.

Wayne Rooney lauds Casemiro for making winning goal happen
Speaking on BBC Sport post-game, Rooney was asked his views on the Manchester United winning goal.
On this, he lauded Casemiro as the Brazilian scored but also through his desire, made the goal happen.
“I think the amount of times you’ll see that and you’ll see the goalkeeper just pick it up but Casemiro makes it a great ball with his determination, his willingness to get across the front post and get that little nick on it. So he deserves that goal for just putting himself in there and being ready.”
Casemiro has a real knack for throwing himself at balls like this and it feels like he’s scored a few like this in his time at Old Trafford.
Manchester United need to make the most of set-pieces
While performances remain slightly lacklustre, United need to gain every advantage possible over the opponent.
For too long, set pieces have been almost a pointless exercise at Old Trafford with corners hitting the first man.
But with the likes of Casemiro, Scott McTominay, Raphael Varane and more all deadly in the air when provided with an excellent delivery.
So against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, United needs to use set-pieces as an advantage, as we saw against Forest it can win games, but the pressure lies on the likes of Fernandes to put those balls in.
