Manchester United secured a last-minute win against Fulham on Saturday at Craven Cottage, but VAR once again played a role.
The losing streak was halted for Manchester United today in a 1-0 win over Fulham, but VAR still managed to make itself a huge talking point.
In the first half, opening 10 minutes, Scott McTominay thought he had opened the scoring after converting Alejandro Garnacho’s cut-back.
However, upon review, VAR determined Harry Maguire was offside, despite not playing a role in the goal.
This decision sparked outrage and was the latest poor decision against United in a long line.

Sutton and Bolt on VAR decision
The decision to revoke Manchester United’s opening goal was ridiculous and that is something BBC Pundit Chris Sutton agreed with.
“That’s a shocking decision to not award the goal…” he posted on X during the game.
Another who couldn’t believe the decision was Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt who is a United fan.
He wrote: “Is like we can’t catch a break #sigh” on his X account.
The case for automated offside deepens
It is baffling that the Premier League continues to deploy this offside technology when there are far better options out there.
This is something which journalist Henry Winter has also suggested as he complained about how long the decision took to be made.
He wrote on X: “It’s not VAR that’s killing games. It’s the ridiculous amount of time taken. 4 mins for offside? A joke. It’s the absence of communication. It’s the paucity of quality of too many officials. It’s an offence to fans who fork out fortunes. Btw semi-automated offside asap.”
