Matheus Cunha was absolutely vital for Manchester United’s victory against Everton on Monday night, both with and without the ball.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium proved a tougher venue than expected, and Manchester United really struggled to get going, with Matheus Cunha among those who failed to get going.

However, he turned out a moment of real quality with an impressive long ball to Bryan Mbeumo, who assisted Benjamin Sesko’s winner as United won 1-0 against Everton.

But it was what Cunha did before and after that was more exciting, and it saw Senne Lammens delighted with his teammate.

Who was your Man Utd MAN OF THE MATCH vs Everton?

Let us know why!

Cunha ended up being one of United’s best players in the victory, which puts the Red Devils back into fourth place. With Lammens’ embrace, particularly for his defensive work.

Lammens gave Cunha a massive hug as a reward for the magnificent effort the Brazilian was putting in defending against James Garner.

The pair had a massive battle all game long, exchanging words and plenty of tackles, but it was Cunha who came out on top.

Prior to the Sesko goal, Cunha made a brilliant tackle on Garner, who was shaping up for a cross with United’s defence stretched. Stopping a chance at one end, and then moments later, he made the pass that created the winner.

Cunha also made a crucial block to keep Everton out, which was one of his 11 defensive contributions in the game, with his off-the-ball work a massively underrated part of his game.

The Brazilian will have left the pitch feeling so accomplished, and his reaction to winning a corner against Garner said it all. A proper footballer.
