Manchester United suffered defeat on Sunday afternoon as Ruben Amorim’s side suffered a 4-3 reverse at Brentford.
Manchester United beat Athletic Club 3-0 on Thursday night, taking a huge step towards the Europa League final.
Sunday’s trip to Brentford saw Ruben Amorim ring the changes as he prioritises Thursday’s second leg against Athletic.
Mason Mount put United in front, but the Bees then scored four unanswered goals to pull away from United.
Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo at least made the scoreline look a little more respectable as United fell to a 4-3 defeat at Brentford.
The attention turns straight back to the Europa League, but Amorim will now worry over Matthijs de Ligt’s injury.

Ruben Amorim on Matthijs de Ligt
De Ligt suffered an injury at Nottingham Forest in April and made his first start since that injury as he featured in Amorim’s back three at Brentford.
The Dutchman lasted just 35 minutes against Brentford, though, as he went off with an apparent knee injury.
United really don’t want to see De Ligt on the sidelines for an extended period of time again – especially with big games to come.
Amorim has now been quoted by BBC Sport as saying that he is ‘really concerned’ about De Ligt’s situation.
Amorim’s concern isn’t just about Thursday, as the United boss fears a longer injury – which could even stretch into next season.
De Ligt’s exact injury status is unknown right now, but the uncertainty leaves Amorim worrying about the worst-case scenario.
“I don’t know so I’m really concerned – not about Thursday,” said Amorim. “We took off Luke Shaw at half-time to protect and have players for Thursday, but I’m more concerned whether it is a small or big injury and thinking about next season,” he added.
Matthijs de Ligt spotted leaving without crutches
One potential boost came after the final whistle, as United players headed for the coach home.
Tyrone Marshall of The Manchester Evening News claims De Ligt was able to get on the bus without any help or the use of crutches.
Marshall notes that De Ligt was limping, but being able to walk without assistance is a glimmer of hope.
United will now assess De Ligt’s injury in the coming days, and we would be surprised to see him feature against Athletic Club this week.
Having been out for a month, United must be careful with De Ligt – especially with Amorim’s fears about his long-term situation.
