Manchester United’s Premier League campaign refuses to get off the ground even slightly before coming to a close, with a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth the latest result.
It was things as usual for Man Utd in the 1-1 draw at Bournemouth, with the team wasting chances, bossing possession, but letting the opponent take first blood.
Despite fielding a strong starting XI, Ruben Amorim faced familiar issues in a game that United should’ve won, but probably expectedly dropped points in.
After the game, the Man Utd manager lamented one thing that his side keeps doing that is holding them back from succeeding consistently.

Ruben Amorim on Man Utd’s bad habit
United can’t score goals right now but that has as much to do with a lack of quality in personnel as it is a habit, so Amorim can’t lament that too much.
What he can feel frustrated over is his team’s ability to be the architects of their own downfall time and again that results in dropped points.
Even in games won, it is hardly ever seen that United do it in a serene manner, case in point is the 5-4 win against Lyon.
After United repeated that against Bournemouth in their conceding of the first goal for the Cherries, Amorim finally had enough after the game.
Amorim said: “If you look at our last games, it’s always like this – we do something to help the opponent get an advantage. Then it’s really hard to score goals, but the players did really well to get at least one point.”
Man Utd can’t repeat it in Europa League
It’s all well and good that United managed to claw themselves back against Lyon but what Amorim said is completely correct.
Be it conceding a poor set-piece against Wolves in the last league game, or making individual errors in the buildup to concede vs Bournemouth, it’s always self-inflicted.
That won’t fly in Europe, especially against an Athletic Club side yearning to play the final at their home stadium in May.
Climbing out of a hole is an admirable trait but not if the reason behind falling in the hole is your own oversight, which is the case with Man Utd.
Athletic can’t be given a sniff, because they’ll take an inch and knock Man Utd out. Amorim has already sounded the alarm bells.
