Amad Diallo was given the chance to impress in a new role under Ruben Amorim vs Viktoria Plzen.
When Ruben Amorim took charge as Manchester United head coach, there was plenty of discussion around who would play in the wing-back positions in his 3-4-3 formation.
Now a month into his managerial reign, Amad Diallo has become “undroppable” under Amorim after shining in the right wing-back role.
Over the past five matches, Amad leads the Premier League in assists with four. Amad Diallo failed to score or assist against Viktoria Plzen but he was impressive once again – but this time in a No.10 role.
For the first time under Amorim, Amad played on the right side of the front three alongside Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford.

How Amad Diallo fared for Man United vs Plzen
Amorim made five changes to his starting lineup against Plzen after the defeat to Nottingham Forest, but Amad kept his place in the side.
Amad played the full 90 minutes on Thursday evening and a glance at his match stats shows how impactful he was for the Red Devils.
| Touches | 63 |
| Accurate passes | 93% (41/44) |
| Key passes | 1 |
| Shots | 2 |
| Big chances created | 1 |
Amad’s decision-making in the final third was questionable at times with the 22-year-old wasting a big opportunity in the first half when he picked the wrong pass to Marcus Rashford.
However, he continues to be one of the biggest creative sparks in this United side. Amad will hope to keep his spot in the side for this Sunday’s derby against Manchester City.

Ruben Amorim assesses Amad Diallo display vs Plzen
After the full-time whistle, Amorim shared his thoughts on Amad’s display and the United boss had one criticism for the young winger.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Amorim said: “I think he can be a very good player in that position. He is a left-footer and we need in this team left-footers for that role.

“I think in the first half he was coming for the ball too much. He needs to play near the goal, near the backline.
“So it is the first time, and he will improve in the future.”
