It’s almost been nine years since David Moyes was sacked by Manchester United.
After succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager in the summer of 2013, David Moyes lasted less than 10 months in the job before he was shown the door for poor results.
It was never going to be an easy task replacing the greatest manager of all-time at the biggest football club in the world, especially when you looked at Moyes’ resume at the time. That consisted of more than a decade at Everton, operating well on a limited budget and nurturing several youngsters.
Ferguson won 38 trophies during his 26 years at United, including 13 Premier League titles, and he decided to make Moyes the ‘chosen one’ after allegedly seeing something of himself in his fellow Scot.
However, getting sacked by United didn’t stop Moyes. He’s since gone on to manage Real Sociedad, Sunderland, West Ham and now Everton.

David Moyes record against Manchester United has improved
On paper, Moyes doesn’t have a good record against United, but it has improved in recent years.
The Scot has faced United’s first-team 39 times in the past, winning just seven of those games with multiple teams.
| Games | Wins | Draws | Losses |
| 39 | 7 | 7 | 25 |
There is a concerning trend for United to address before it gets worse, though.
Moyes has won two of his last three matches against United during his time at West Ham and he will be looking to build on that with Everton on Saturday when the two teams meet at Goodison Park for the last time.
United won the last meeting 3-0, thanks to goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho (x2).
In the two meetings prior to that, West Ham enjoyed two home victories, winning 1-0 and 2-0.
Ruben Amorim must address David Moyes resurgence
Everton were one point clear of the Premier League relegation zone with just three wins in 19 matches when Moyes was reappointed as manager.
Just over a month later, everyone is talking about Everton’s resurgence under Moyes. It comes as no surprise because no team in the top flight has picked up more points than Everton (13 points from six league games) since they replaced Sean Dyche.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |

Ruben Amorim has not endured the same new manager bounce at Manchester United, but he must put an end to Moyes’ improving record against United.
Otherwise, Everton will form a bigger gap ahead of United in the league table.
