Mason Mount has started a game in a Manchester United shirt for the first time having played against Leeds United this afternoon.

The Red Devils are in pre-season action today, taking on rivals Leeds United in a friendly over in Oslo, Norway.

Erik ten Hag is looking to see a number of young players in action, including Alvaro Fernandez, Kobbie Mainoo and Omari Forson.

Then there is Mason Mount, who has been given a first start for United since completing his move from Chelsea.

Mount has been thrown straight into action and almost scored a stunning goal by lofting a chip just past the post.

Mason Mount appears in Manchester United shirt

This is the first time we have seen Mount in action in a United shirt and it may still be a little strange for some.

Mount has been synonymous with the blue of Chelsea for years now and some thought he would never leave.

That all changed this summer though and Mount has swapped blue for red, donning United’s new home shirt against Leeds.

There are a couple of photos in this piece of Mount’s debut, just so you eyes can get used to seeing the playmaker in United red rather than Chelsea blue.

Mount praised on Manchester United debut

The early signs have been positive; Mount has been looking to get on the ball from deep and play creative passes to get United moving forward.

Premier League and Champions League performances will be the real test and proving grounds for Mount, but his first appearance has been going well.

MUTV commentator Stewart Gardner has been very impressed and offered up praise for Mount after just a few minutes.

“Mount is everywhere in these early stages. He’s an elite player,” said Gardner (MUTV, 4:12pm).

That is certainly what United fans are expecting from Mount; plenty of energy, work rate and quality on the ball.

Let’s hope we see Mount score his first United goal soon enough, and a goal against Leeds would be just the perfect start.
