Micah Richards says Man Utd have a player with ‘absolutely everything’, Danny Murphy agrees

Manchester United have beaten Newport County in the FA Cup.

But only just. Erik ten Hag‘s side made it hard work for themselves, letting go of a 2-0 lead at Rodney Parade instated thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo.

Thankfully, an Antony and a Rasmus Hojlund strike ensured Manchester United were 4-2 victors and, ultimately, have gotten through to the next round of the FA Cup.

There were some quality performers on the night – but arguably none better than the emerging starlet of Mainoo.

Danny Murphy and Micah Richards on Kobbie Mainoo

The 18-year-old was different class in the centre of the park once again. He grabbed his first-ever goal for the first team squad – which will be the first of many to follow.

Danny Murphy, speaking on BBC commentary, highlighted the excellence of Mainoo in the first half. He said:

“He’s been a real plus for Manchester United this season,” Murphy begins. “The emergence of him. I know he was known around the club but he’s really taken to first-team football so easily.

“He looks very established. Good without the ball and comfortable on it. He’ll save them a lot of money in the market.”

Micah Richards also said the same at half-time, stating he can’t find a fault with United’s young midfielder.

“What a player he is. Off the ball, on the ball. He has absolutely everything,” Richards says.

Kobbie Mainoo is Manchester United’s shining light this season

It’s safe to say nothing has been perfect at Old Trafford this season, however, Mainoo has to be the best thing to happen to the club in a while.

You can just tell when a player oozes class, and Mainoo has it in abundance. The best thing is? He’s only going to get better and better. We’re lucky to have you, Kobbie.
