Matheus Cunha aims to repeat masterclass at Craven Cottage, Man Utd’s star quality proved too much for Fulham

Matheus Cunha is aiming to hit the ground running at Manchester United, despite suffering defeat in the Premier League opener last weekend.

Manchester United have welcomed four new signings to Ruben Amorim’s squad this summer, with a heavy emphasis put on bolstering the attacking department.

Matheus Cunha was the first signing, arriving from Wolves, before Diego Leon, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko followed suit.

Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko all featured in the first game of the season as United lost 1-0 against Arsenal, following a howler from back-up goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. Amorim’s side performed well and deserved more from the game.

United travel to Fulham for their next Premier League outing on Sunday. Each of the new signings will be looking to open their goalscoring account, with two of the recruits having scored against the Cottagers in the past.

Matheus Cunha bagged brilliant brace vs Fulham

Wolves completed a remarkable comeback win over Fulham last season, heavily inspired by United’s new signing Cunha.

Cunha celebrated a stunning goal in each half and added an assist as Wolves claimed their first away win of the Premier League season by beating Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage.

The Brazil international scored after 31 minutes to cancel out Alex Iwobi’s opener, before the Brazil international set up Joao Gomes after the interval.

Cunha struck again before stoppage time, but this time from outside the box.

With an impressive goalscoring record against Fulham, having played the London outfit four times since moving his career to England, Cunha will hope to score his first goal for United this weekend.

Bryan Mbeumo record vs Fulham

When Brentford last played Fulham, Mbeumo scored one of the goals in a 3-2 defeat.

Mbeumo faced Fulham eight times during his spell at Brentford, including a Championship play-off defeat in 2020.

The Cameroon international has registered six goal contributions against Fulham down the years, so he will also be looking to add to that on Sunday.
