Manchester United have beaten Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg. Anthony Martial and Fred scored the goals.

Here is a look at our player ratings…

Tom Heaton – 7

Good point blank save in the first half when called upon. Came off his line well. Just his second start for the club.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7

Defended well against the tricky Emmanuel Dennis. Did everything which was asked of his defensively.

Raphael Varane – 7.5

Excellent positional play and strong on the ball.

Lisandro Martinez -7

Kept his composure, always looked in control. A pretty easy night.

Luke Shaw – 6.5

Delivery was poor to begin with and improved as the game went on.

Casemiro – 8

Almost scored a header in the first half, supplied Weghorst with a sumptuous cross. His pass created United’s opening goal.

Fred – 7

Linked the play well and got the reward for his hard work in the second half with a tap-in, his fourth goal of the season.

Bruno Fernandes 7.5

Showed some fantastic touches, none better than the cross to Marcus Rashford which set up Fred’s goal.

Antony – 6.5

Capable of creating chances with his trickery, but also let himself down by making the wrong choices at key moments. Saw a powerful half-volley fizz over the bar.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6

Didn’t get in behind the Forest defence enough. Almost opened the scoring in the second half with a strong effort.

Wout Weghorst – 6.5

Hit the post with a header. Unlucky not to be awarded a penalty in the second half. A ‘nearly’ night for the striker.

Substitutes:

Jadon Sancho – 7

Great to see Sancho return to the team. He played the final half an hour in a central role and was involved in the build-up to United’s second goal.

Marcus Rashford – 7.5

Helped to spark United into life. Provided two assists.

Anthony Martial – 7.5

Looked sharp and linked United’s attack up well. Marked his return to the side with a goal. Good movement and determined finish.
