Manchester United fans have voted for the team’s man of the match against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.
United beat Newcastle 2-0 with goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford in the first half. A strong defensive performance kept the Toon at bay throughout the game.
The Red Devils celebrated on the pitch at Wembley after winning the League Cup for a sixth time, ending a six year spell without a trophy.
There were strong performances all over the pitch from United’s players, but one or two really stood out.

Man of the match
Manchester United fans picked the man of the match via a vote on the club website and app, and there was a clear winner.
- Casemiro: 65 per cent
- Lisandro Martinez: 12 per cent
- Marcus Rashford: 7 per cent
- David de Gea: 5 per cent
- Other players three per cent or fewer
Casemiro netted United’s opener with a header and was outstanding throughout the game. He gives the team an assurance at both ends of the pitch, with his experience vital.
The Brazilian has been a major contributor ever since he joined from Real Madrid in the summer.
He looks hungry to take on this fresh challenge, and plays in the defensive midfield position where the club had been crying out for reinforcements, and he was well worth the wait.
