Manchester United are into the FA Cup fourth round after a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic.
There is usually reason to be anxious when watching Manchester United play. But last night, aside from the first five minutes, Erik ten Hag’s side never really looked in real jeopardy.
And that’s how it should be, when a Premier League team meets League One opposition. Manchester United were dominant and should have won by more than two goals.
Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes netted a goal in each half, with Manchester United winning comfortably.

Manchester United man of the match v Wigan
Manchester United supporters voted for the man of the match from the 2-0 win, via the club app and there was a clear winner, Kobbie Mainoo.
- Kobbie Mainoo: 45 per cent
- Diogo Dalot: 16 per cent
- Alejandro Garnacho: 15 per cent
- Bruno Fernandes: 15 per cent
- Marcus Rashford: 4 per cent
- All other players one per cent or fewer
Mainoo and Garnacho have come a long way in two years
Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho swept up a combined 60 per cent of the vote, with the two teenagers continuing to make an impact.
The two players have come a long way in two years. Back in January 2022 they were playing for the under-18s in the FA Youth Cup away at Reading.
United’s youngsters went on to lift silverware in that competition, and now reunited in a cup tournament once again, Mainoo and Garnacho will be looking to enjoy the same success. They are off to a strong start.
