Manchester United supporters have named the man of the match in the narrow victory over Copenhagen.

It was a close call. The match itself, Manchester United’s Champions League hopes, and the man of the match poll.

With the forward line misfiring, Manchester United needed Harry Maguire to step up and score a header. It was a special moment in his own comeback story, having fallen down the pecking order, and suffering heavy ridicule.

And then Andre Onana stepped up for his own party-piece, a 95th minute penalty save.

Man of the match v Copenhagen

Manchester United fans voted for the man of the match against Copenhagen via the club website and app. And it was a very close run vote.

Well deserved

It’s pretty rare two players combine for 91 per cent of the vote, and perhaps you can argue Eriksen was unfortunate just to get two per cent.

But when you consider the emotional aspect of Maguire and Onana’s redemption stories, it’s understandable fans felt so strongly.

Maguire was on his way to wrapping up this vote with his winner, before the late penalty was awarded against Scott McTominay. Fortunately super Andre Onana stepped up and saved the day.
