Man of the match v Brighton

Manchester United supporters voted for the man of the match via a poll on the club website and app.

It was a closely contested vote amid a tight game low on individual attacking quality…

That the top three players were the goalkeeper and two defenders serves to underline how difficult this game was.

Lindelof scored the winning penalty and was ice cool at the back all game. His performance deserves extra recognition considering the responsibility he had leading United’s makeshift backline.

Gary Neville named him as his man of the match after the game, while the BBC picked Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.
