Manchester United have reached the FA Cup final after a semi-final win over Coventry City…. only just.

Goals from Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes gave Manchester United a 3-0 lead before the team improbably allowed Coventry to draw level and force extra-time.

Coventry’s 120th minute goal was disallowed, forcing penalties. Rasmus Hojlund scored the winning penalty to help United reach the final.

Here are our player ratings in full from the contest at Wembley…

Andre Onana– 7

Little to do, and then conceded from Ellis Simms’ first strike at goal. Made a strong save with Coventry pushing late on.

Redeemed himself in the shootout with a crucial save which swung momentum back in our favour.

Diogo Dalot – 8

Great recovery early in the game to chase back when Coventry threatened to break away. Superb clearance at the end of the first half too.

Provided the assist for United’s opener with a perfect cross for Scott McTominay. Took an excellent penalty in the shootout.

Harry Maguire – 9

A leader’s performance, strong in possession, and scored Manchester United’s second goal with a trademark header.

Covered for Casemiro’s deficiencies and drove United forward in pursuit of goals.

Casemiro – 7

Playing in an unusual centre-back role amid an injury crisis, and didn’t look at all out of place for the first hour. Showed off his passing range too with long balls up the field.

As the game went on his lack of pace was increasingly evident with United under more pressure.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7

A useful outlet at left-back when going forward, Coventry didn’t test him defensively. Unlucky to give away a late penalty for handball.

Kobbie Mainoo – 7

First game for Manchester United at Wembley, and looked perfectly at home on the big stage, which is no surprise.

Scott McTominay – 7

Opened the scoring by arriving in the box at the perfect time to meet Dalot’s cross. In the right place at the right time.

Bruno Fernandes – 9

Expert delivery from a corner for Maguire’s header, exactly where he wanted it. Fernandes then got on the scoresheet himself, winning the ball back inside the penalty area and scoring at the near post.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6.5

Showed intent with an early shot, and had a hand in United’s opener, linking up well with Dalot. Substituted after 62 minutes. United were weaker once he went off.

Marcus Rashford – 6

Missed an early chance, and saw a powerful effort saved at the end of the first half, which led to the corner which doubled United’s lead.

Rasmus Hojlund – 6

Little happening for Rasmus Hojlund in this one, and his lack of goals is a bit of a concern at present. He blew a big chance towards the end of normal time with United 3-2 up.

Substitutes

Antony– 4

Struggled to get into the game when brought on, and was wasteful whenever he got the ball.

Christian Eriksen – 6

Showed a few nice touches in possession, but United were weaker when he came on. Out of possession he was invisible.

Amad– 7

Showed determination when he came on and was unselfish in attack. Gave a good account of himself.

Omari Forson – 7

Almost made an instant impact when he saw a low shot saved, looked dangerous and eager to shoot.
