Manchester United were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City in a tightly contested derby on Sunday.
Manchester United were expected to be beaten comfortably by Manchester City but took a shock early lead through a Marcus Rashford rocket.
City did control the majority of the ball, though, and managed to turn the result around with two goals from Phil Foden. Erling Haaland added a late third.
Here’s how Erik ten Hag’s players did.

Andre Onana – 6
An accurate long pass from his own box led to the first goal and he made several important saves, including a one-on-one with Foden, to keep United in the lead. However, letting Foden’s second slide under him let his performance down.
Diogo Dalot – 7
Marshalled Jeremy Doku so well that the winger was hooked before an hour was played. A good defensive display which was maintained when moved to left-back.
Raphael Varane – 6
A bit sloppy with a few of his clearances which gifted a few good chances away but otherwise defended well and took a bullet to bring Erling Haaland down after Jonny Evans had been turned.
Jonny Evans – 5
Was given a tough time by Haaland and lost possession at points but held on in there. Rightly taken off for Wily Kambwala in the 68th minute.
Victor Lindelof – 4
Still looks uncomfortable on his unfavoured side. Allowed Foden to cut inside too easily for him to blast in the leveller and played Haaland onside for the third.
Kobbie Mainoo – 6
Did not look out of place up against the likes of Foden and Kevin De Bruyne but wasn’t afforded many chances on the ball with United sitting so deep. When he did get it, he was calm in possession and played a fantastic pass to put Garnacho through on goal.
Scott McTominay – 6
His decoy run opened the space for the opener and his early presence upfield shocked City. Did little on the ball but made some important defensive contributions.
Casemiro – 5
Some nice touches and kept his composure in tight situations to help play United out but lost Foden for the second goal.
Bruno Fernandes – 6
Held the ball up well with Ruben Dias on his back to tee up the opening goal. An industrious performance in an unfamiliar position with limited service.
Marcus Rashford – 7
A fantastic goal from 25 yards out into the top corner to silence some of the criticism he’s faced in recent weeks. Sadly, he did squander a couple of good chances and allowed himself to be bundled off the ball for the equaliser. A quiet second half.
Alejandro Garnacho – 5
Got a good early chance to race through on goal and one in the second half but couldn’t make the most of either. Otherwise kept quiet as United didn’t have much of the ball but worked hard.
Substitutes
Willy Kambwala – 5
The teenager came in at right-back and handled City’s attacking might admirably.
Antony – 4
Missed the chance to set Garnacho in on goal and was off-side when Fernandes put him through.
Omari Forson – N/A
Came on late and had little impact.
Sofyan Amrabat – 3
Lost the ball for the third goal.
