Manchester United ran out 1-0 losers against Arsenal in the Premier League. It was a rather lacklustre display.

There was a sea of bad performances for the Red Devils. Casemiro had another stinker, Rasmus Hojlund just did not get involved and Scott McTominay was a passenger.

It was just not good enough. Manchester United did not put up that much of a fight against the Gunners, who rolled over Erik ten Hag’s men at Old Trafford.

There were a couple of Manchester United men who could hold their heads high, including a certain midfielder who had one of his best games in a United shirt.

Sofyan Amrabat had one of his best games in a Manchester United shirt

One serial struggler at Manchester United this season has to be Sofyan Amrabat. Considering how hard Ten Hag pushed to secure his signature, his loan spell at Old Trafford has been nothing short of a disaster.

Amrabat has only featured for 772 minutes all season, with the Dutch manager seemingly having little to no faith in him whatsoever.

But, against Arsenal, he was one of the only players on the pitch wearing a red shirt that looked like he wanted to be there.

Amrabat was the only Red Devils star cannoning into challenges and showing a single ounce of passion, which is baffling considering his situation at the club. His stats on the day were better than usual.

Sofyan Amrabat’s Manchester United fate is still sealed

Despite the fine display, it is also almost certain that Amrabat’s Manchester United fate remains the same. His loan deal isn’t looking likely to be made permanent.

There are still so many better options out there for a defensive midfielder, and Manchester United won’t waste any more than the £8m they spent on the loan fee to bring him to Carrington for good.

It’s a shame, as he clearly does have some fight in him. Sadly, his footballing capabilities are just not up to scratch.
