Manchester United are still struggling for goals but managed to pick up a 0-0 draw away at Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
Erik ten Hag headed into Sunday’s trip to Villa Park desperately needing results.
Manchester United suffered a 3-0 hammering at home to Tottenham Hotspur before a chaotic 3-3 draw at Porto in the Europa League.
Ten Hag needs results and performances with neither particularly convincing the United fanbase right now.
A trip to Villa Park seemed like a nightmare journey given that Unai Emery’s side beat Bayern Munich 1-0 in midweek.
United managed 0-0 draw though with neither side particularly impressing going forward in a drab stalemate.

Harry Maguire injury latest
Ten Hag made some bold calls with his starting lineup.
Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt were left on the bench after struggling at Porto on Thursday night.
In came Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans with Ten Hag adamant that it was mere rotation rather than any greater comments about De Ligt and Martinez.
Maguire only lasted 45 minutes though as he was replaced by De Ligt at the break having gone down with an injury before the half-time whistle.
The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath now claims that Maguire was seen leaving Villa Park whilst wearing a protective boot.
Maguire had to be helped off the pitch at the break and seemingly needed support on an injured calf muscle.
United will hope that this injury isn’t too serious and will no doubt look to get Maguire scanned in the coming days.
Maguire has international break to recover
This is another injury problem for Maguire, which is sadly becoming a regular occurrence.
Maguire – the hero at Porto with a late equaliser – missed out against Tottenham last weekend having picked up a knock in training.
Maguire now has another injury problem but has already been left out of the England squad for this international break.
Lee Carsley wants to assess other centre backs and Maguire has therefore been overlooked this time.
The defender will now look to learn the severity of his injury with United hoping that he won’t face a lengthy lay-off.
United return with a home game against Brentford on October 19 before facing Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in the Europa League five days later.
Games against West Ham United, Leicester City, Chelsea and PAOK follow with Ten Hag surely looking for Maguire to be back involved sooner rather than later.
