Harry Maguire stepped up once again for Manchester United to score the winner in a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield.
The legend of Harry Maguire just continues to rise for Manchester United, as his goal ended a nearly 10-year wait for victory away from home against Liverpool.
Maguire is a man for the big occasion, and as United beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, it was the former club captain who stepped up again.
In a strong performance from most United players, Maguire was among the top performers on the pitch, being solid defensively, and the goal being the latest in a long line of huge goals.
The goal secured the first back-to-back wins of Ruben Amorim’s reign, with Maguire seeing his own stock rise toward icon status.

Maguire has now won United six points this season through his goal contributions. First, he assisted Casemiro’s eventual winner against Chelsea, and now scored the winner against Liverpool.
As a result of his continued importance, United are considering a new contract for Maguire.
Following the performance and celebrations, Maguire took to his Instagram with a message for United fans.
Maguire captioned the post, “I love this club”, and it is important to note that the club loves him too, as do the fans.
In the replies, this was made clear, with his teammates among those to respond.
One response came from former United man Scott McTominay, who commented with a clapping emoji and a heart, followed by five exclamation marks to emphasise his excitement.
Matthijs de Ligt simply wrote: “H”, followed by a heart, sharing the relationship the duo now have in defence. Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee added: “On fire H”, with two heart emojis and two flexing emojis.
Shea Lacey commented with a clapping emoji and a heart, while Dean Henderson added a fire emoji followed by a heart.
Michael Carrick reacts to Harry Maguire performance vs Liverpool
Maguire is one of the most adored players in the squad right now, going from zero to hero and deserving every bit of the praise he now gets.
Adding to this, club legend Michael Carrick has been quoted by Premier League Productions, praising Maguire and explaining how big this win will be for United.
“That will be remembered for a long time. Winning goals at Anfield are very special, and people remember them. He deserves it as well. He has been through a lot at United, has Harry, but he has kept coming back to score big goals…and that is the biggest one.
“It’s an incredible result for so many reasons – for the boys, for the club, and for the manager. The performance; there were so many things happening in the game. Today, it’s all about the result. That’s going to do the club a world of good and it’s a massive, massive boost to that group of players.”
It could very well be the biggest for Maguire has scored for United, offering Amorim the chance to build something and turning the corner after 11 dismal months for the club.
