Harry Maguire comments on Old Trafford atmosphere after Man Utd win

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has praised the atmosphere generated at Old Trafford during Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Chelsea.

This has been a turbulent few days for United having produced a terrible performance in the 1-0 defeat at Newcastle United.

There had been rumours of dressing room unrest after that game, with Gary Neville suggesting that it was ‘groundhog day’ for United.

A handful of journalists were banned from Tuesday’s press conference and Erik ten Hag really needed a big result to quieten the noise a little.

United did the job, securing a 2-1 win as Scott McTominay bagged a brace to hand Ten Hag a big win over Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino.

This was a much better performance too with United creating a number of chances.

If we are going to be hyper-critical, United can’t afford to be so wasteful with these goalscoring opportunities.

2-1 was good enough on the night though and United defender Harry Maguire was absolutely delighted.

Maguire took to Instagram late on Wednesday night to state that this was ‘the reaction we needed’ after a testing few days.

Maguire also praised the United fanbase, stating that ‘Old Trafford was rocking’, spurring Ten Hag’s men onto victory.

Maguire has also commented on Scott McTominay’s Instagram post, simply stating ‘love it’ as the Scot posted a photo of his celebration against Chelsea.

Premier League award heading Maguire’s way

Maguire has become a fixture of the United side of late and his performances have now been recognised.

This may sound strange, but FC 24 insider FUT Sheriff has leaked that Maguire has won the Premier League Player of the Month award for November.

That means Maguire will receive a special, boosted card in FC 24 Ultimate Team with the leaker a trusted source in the FC 24 community.

The Premier League won’t confirm the news until Friday but it looks like Maguire has clinched an award won by the likes of Son Heung-min and Mohamed Salah earlier this season.

Maguire looked set for West Ham United at one point over the summer and now finds himself shining for United and winning awards.

What a turnaround – and long may it continue.
