Gary Neville has taken to social media to slam Manchester United following a horrendous 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Bournemouth.

One step forward, two steps back.

That is how United fans will feel this evening after a frankly terrible afternoon at Old Trafford.

Wednesday’s win over Chelsea had given United some encouragement that Erik ten Hag and co were turning the corner.

Instead, United have crashed to a 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth to pile the pressure back on Ten Hag once again.

United had twice as many shots, completed twice as many passes and had 69% of possession but did absolutely nothing with it.

Bournemouth could have had a fourth but Dango Ouattara’s late goal was ruled out by VAR.

This was a chastening day for United and former right back Gary Neville has offered his reaction.

Neville started with just two words, highlighting that United are ‘consistently inconsistent’, constantly failing to put together a run of results.

Neville added that this was ‘an abysmal result’, seemingly dismayed with United once again slumping to an embarrassing defeat.

That is a fourth home league defeat of the season already and Ten Hag simply cannot afford to keep losing these games in front of the United fans.

United and Bayern humiliated ahead of Champions League clash

The attention will now turn to the Champions League with United’s group-stage campaign coming to an end on Tuesday night.

United need a win and to hope for a draw between Copenhagen and Galatasaray, meaning fate is not in United’s hands.

United were humiliated by Bournemouth this afternoon but Bayern haven’t exactly fared much better.

The Bundesliga giants lost 5-1 away at Eintracht Frankfurt this afternoon, meaning Thomas Tuchel’s men will be reeling too.

United have to try and move past today’s defeat but Ten Hag cannot afford to crash out of Europe entirely this week, with fans at least still hoping for some Europa League action.
