Manchester United defender Sergio Reguilon has been praised on Instagram by Alejandro Garnacho despite the 3-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.
United returned from the international break on Saturday afternoon with fans keen to see a home victory against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Heading into the break of the back of a 3-1 defeat at Arsenal left fans with nearly a fortnight of stewing on the painful late loss.
This wasn’t much better though as Brighton cut through United at will opening the scoring through an old face in Danny Welbeck.
Pascal Gross added number two and Joao Pedro made it three, leaving Hannibal Mejbri’s long-range strike to be little more than a consolation.
Erik ten Hag has big questions to answer after a disappointing start to the season – but there was a positive from Saturday’s defeat.
Sergio Reguilon impresses for Manchester United
Reguilon joined United from Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day, penning a loan deal until the end of the season.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Reguilon is looking to impress at United, possibly with the rather ambitious idea of staying permanently in 2024.
Two key passes and two successful dribbles showed the kind of attacking thrust Reguilon can bring to this United side, but no defender will be happy after conceding three goals.
Reguilon praised by Alejandro Garnacho
Reguilon took to Instagram to reflect on making his debut; a proud moment despite the difficult 3-1 defeat.
United fans praised Reguilon, whilst there was also a message from teammate Alejandro Garnacho.
The Argentinian winger replied on Instagram, stating ‘very good game bro’, seemingly loving Reguilon’s United debut.
Garnacho and Reguilon would have no doubt preferred to be speaking after a win but United’s new man received some deserved praise all the same.
It’s unclear just when Shaw and Malacia will be back, so Reguilon will be relied up on to build on this first outing in the famous red shirt.
