With only two wins from six games, Manchester United simply have to beat Sunderland in the Premier League this weekend.
There are no excuses for Ruben Amorim’s men not to beat the newly promoted Black Cats, despite the visitors’ impressive start.
Amorim’s United are coming off the back of an awful 3-1 loss to Brentford. The head coach made a number of selection errors in that game, so we have put together a useful guide to help him out…

Change goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir out
Altay Bayindir has been Manchester United’s first choice goalkeeper this season. It’s honestly hard to fathom why.
Bayindir is weak defending corners, and a poor shot-stopper. Fan confidence in him is at an all-time low, and it’s hard to feel that his defenders believe in him.
New signing Senne Lammens must start. He deserves an opportunity and this is a far better game to plunge him into than the following one at home to Liverpool.
Bring Amad back into the starting line-up
Amad missed the loss to Brentford due to a family bereavement. He returned to training earlier this week, available for consideration this weekend.
Up against the club where he spent a full season on loan, Amad will be desperate to show what he can do in a Manchester United shirt.
There is an extra reason to bring Amad back in, simultaneously taking Diogo Dalot out of the line-up after a poor individual performance at Brentford.
Manuel Ugarte out
Casemiro returns from suspension and will be available to start against Sunderland. His steady experience was missed against Brentford.
Another attractive option would be to start Kobbie Mainoo for the first time this season, and really try to control the midfield and attack.
The one selection that cannot happen is for Manuel Ugarte to be named in the line-up. He has been poor in recent months and United have lost the only two Premier League games he has started this season.

Leny Yoro must start
Leny Yoro’s pace at the back was badly missed in Manchester United’s loss to Brentford. He needs to be brought back in.
Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt are both valuable defenders, but together, they are a little too similar, especially when Luke Shaw is the third man.
Yoro is United’s most important defender, one who adds balance to the team. Whoever misses out, it almost does not matter, so long as the young Frenchman is in.
