Manchester United fans praised one unsung player’s solid overall display amid Bryan Mbeumo’s stunning showing against Liverpool in the Premier League tie at Anfield.
The Red Devils travelled to Anfield on Sunday afternoon and Manchester United drew first blood against rivals Liverpool in their Premier League showdown.
Bryan Mbeumo made an instant impact after Amad Diallo played him through and the 26-year-old former Brentford star broke the deadlock in only the second minute.
Manchester United maintained their lead over Liverpool in the first half, despite Arne Slot’s men fighting back in their pursuit of a crucial equaliser before half-time.
Mbeumo’s first-half opener would be cancelled out in the second half after Federico Chiesa picked out Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, who tapped the ball in from close range.
United hit back against Liverpool in the 84th minute after Bruno Fernandes floated a dangerous ball into the box and Harry Maguire turned in a close-range header.

Senne Lammens’ display catches the eye of Man Utd fans, despite Bryan Mbeumo’s impact vs Liverpool
Senne Lammens retained his place in the Red Devils starting XI after the 23-year-old Manchester United summer signing made his debut vs Sunderland at Old Trafford.
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, waxed lyrical about Senne Lammens’ strong display between the sticks on Sunday afternoon.
A Red Devils supporter tweeted: “Senne Lammens is a very serious footballer.”
While a second added: “Not to exaggerate, but Senne Lammens might be our best goalkeeper since Edwin van der Sar.”
Someone else commented: “Senne Lammens is insane, bro. Just literally changed the whole atmosphere with his presence.”
“Even [though] Lammens didn’t save it, the way he rushed [Mohamed] Salah and makes himself big shouldn’t go unnoticed. Love him already,” a fourth United fan said.
And a fifth suggested: “I’ve seen enough of Lammens to see that he’s leagues above [Altay] Bayindir and [Andre] Onana.”
“I don’t know the official terminology, but Lammens’ angle closing is phenomenal,” another posted.
Somebody else argued: “Look at Lammens’ reaction to cover Salah and close his space to shoot. A proper keeper right there.”
An eighth X user finally claimed: “Senne Lammens is the best thing to happen to Manchester United in a while.”
Senne Lammens’ clean sheet for Man Utd against Liverpool is unfortunately snatched away, despite another solid showing
Altay Bayindir was dropped for United’s 2-0 Premier League win over Sunderland after Ruben Amorim handed Senne Lammens his first appearance for the club.
United star Lammens impressed against Sunderland ahead of the October international break and has now followed it up with his display against Liverpool.
The former Royal Antwerp star, who arrived at Old Trafford on deadline day in September, was unfazed by the Anfield atmosphere for Sunday’s huge clash.
Lammens was unfortunate not to secure a clean sheet on the weekend, but the United summer signing is cementing his place as the Red Devils’ clear-cut No 1.
Ruben Amorim’s United side will now return to action at Old Trafford next Saturday, with the Red Devils hosting Brighton in their next Premier League clash.
The Premier League clash between United and Brighton is slated for a 5:30pm kick-off time in the UK at Old Trafford on 25th October.
