Manchester United and Brighton are both looking for back-to-back wins in the Premier League on Sunday.

Brighton, who have a strong record at Old Trafford, will be looking to add to Ruben Amorim’s problems at Manchester United.

The Reds are 12th in the Premier League table, while Brighton are five points better off sat in 9th place.

It will be their first meeting since Brighton beat United 2-1 in the reverse fixture at the Amex Stadium in August. Amad Diallo scored an equaliser after Danny Welbeck opened the scoring, but Joao Pedro sealed the win for the Seagulls with a 95th-minute winner.

Brighton go into the game after a 2-0 triumph over Ipswich Town at Portman Road. Goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter secured the three points.

After taking 31 points from their first 21 league games this season, Brighton will be looking to cause problems for United and they are more than capable of doing that due to the firepower they possess in attack.

Manchester United’s bogey team

Brighton’s 47% win rate against United in the Premier League is the highest recorded by any team in the top flight, with the Seagulls winning seven of their 15 meetings against the Reds.

Draws are a rarity in this fixture because none of those 15 games have been drawn.

United, who will be looking for three points this weekend, have won on eight separate occasions. The Reds will want to avoid losing a third consecutive game against Brighton at Old Trafford.

Brighton’s ropey form

Although Brighton are undefeated in their last five Premier League games, Fabian Hurzeler’s side ended an eight-match winless streak with a 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town last weekend.

The Seagulls were stronger in previous seasons as they sit 9th in the table – five points clear of United in 12th

Brighton will be eager to make it back-to-back wins in the league.

Return of Diogo Dalot

After serving a one-match suspension when United beat Southampton 3-1 on Thursday night, Diogo Dalot will be available for selection again.

Dalot was sent off for two bookable offences in the FA Cup tie at Arsenal.

The Portugal international is expected to resume his role at left wing-back on Sunday after it was occupied by Noussair Mazraoui against Southampton.

Dalot will be looking to perform like he did at Anfield two weeks ago when he had Trent Alexander-Arnold in his back pocket.

Toby Collyer to feature against former club

Amorim has been giving United academy graduate Toby Collyer minutes in the first team in recent weeks.

Collyer has impressed when called upon in big games and he made an impact from the bench against Southampton midweek.

There’s a good chance Collyer will feature against Brighton, the side United signed him from in 2022.

Danny Welbeck back to haunt Manchester United

Former United striker Danny Welbeck has a worryingly good record against the Reds.

The former academy graduate has scored six goals against United since leaving 11 years ago.

Welbeck, who has six goals this season, featured in Brighton’s first league victory in nine attempts last week.

He will be looking to haunt Old Trafford again.
