Bruno Fernandes lit up Old Trafford with a stunning free kick as Manchester United beat Everton 4-0.
Mason Greenwood and Harry Maguire had already put United in command when Fernandes scored the goal of the game to make it three.
New signing Jadon Sancho was clearly watching on from home and reacted to the goal on Twitter.
After the game, Bruno sent a message back and he clearly can’t wait to play with the England international.
“I’m feeling ready. It was a good break, I enjoyed it. I’ve come back and had two weeks of training and I’m feeling fresh and ready to start the season. Of course we know that game [Leeds] is the one that counts for the league,” Bruno told the club website after the game.
“Today was about doing the right things, taking some minutes in the legs, start doing the right things and try to put in what we are training all week in Scotland.
“Now we have one more week to prepare for the game and we have to prepare well because it’s a different game, different intensity, different team, different way to play.
“We know what to expect and I hope we can have the same result as today.”
Sancho might not be ready in time for the start of the season but the early signs are that Bruno is.
It was a sublime effort and hopefully a signal of intent.
United shouldn’t be so reliant on Fernandes for creativity this season when the likes of Sancho are in the side.
Fernandes hasn’t even had a full season in front of a packed Old Trafford and that’s something Sancho has still got to look forward to as well.
