Erik ten Hag was keen to praise Hannibal Mejbri following his goal at Old Trafford but the Dutchman also singled out three other United players for praise.
Hojlund thought he scored on his Old Trafford debut the goal was ruled out due to Rashford taking the ball out of play before he laid it on a plate for the Dane to score.
Ten Hag was full of praise for these players, despite the defeat.
Ten Hag on Hannibal’s impact
Speaking to MUTV, Ten Hag said about the Tunisian: “Hannibal? He did what we brought him in to do. He had an impact, brought energy.”
It was that energy that was lacking in the midfield for United and Hannibal was the player who brought that much-needed intensity to the midfield.
The question will now turn to whether the Tunisian should start at the Allianz Arena or indeed the next Premier League game against Vincent Kompany’s Burnley.
Ten Hag on the three player he thought performed well
The Dutch manager chose to remain positive despite the manner in which United lost the game and was keen to praise his players.
MORE UNITED STORIES
“Diogo [Dalot] played very well, Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund was a threat,” Ten Hag said. “There were good players on the pitch, but we didn’t get the result we wanted.”
Ten Hag was also questioned about the new formation which saw the Red Devils lining up in an unorthodox 4-2-2-2 formation.
“The new system worked? Absolutely. The first 20 minutes were very good. We have to stick to the plan because it worked well. We had quite a few chances.”
It now remains to be seen whether United will line up in a similar formation to what they did against the Seagulls when they line up in Munich on Wednesday night.
