Diogo Dalot has sent a message to fellow Manchester United defender Raphael Varane after his injury blow against Chelsea.

Varane was beaten to the ball at full stretch by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang just before the hour mark and jarred his knee.

The French defender looked close to tears as he was coming off the pitch to be replaced by Victor Lindelof.

The World Cup is just around the corner and Varane will have been expecting to be in the France squad looking to defend their crown.

United went behind late on when Scott McTominay was adjudged to have brought down Armando Broja from a corner and Jorginho scored the penalty.

But United did not give up and Casemiro headed home Luke Shaw’s deep cross in stoppage time to earn a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Dalot took to Instagram after the game to celebrate the draw but also send a message of encouragement to his teammate.

Erik ten Hag was asked about Varane’s injury after the game on Sky Sports and said it is too early to get an exact diagnosis.

“We have to wait a minimum 24 hours so the medical department can do their job and we do a diagnosis.

“I can understand [his] emotions [given the World Cup]. He has to wait, he is experienced but we don’t know. Once it is diagnosed, we can have a conclusion.”
