Confirmed Manchester United XI vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester United have confirmed their starting XI to face Nottingham Forest, with Erik Ten Hag forced into two key changes in central defence.

The Red Devils will want to return to winning ways having lost last weekend against Newcastle United at St. James Park before drawing at home in the UEFA Europa League to Sevilla, having thrown away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 thanks to a pair of late goals.

With Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane both suffering injuries, United face the prospect of taking on the Premier League run-in without two of their most important players, yet a good performance today against Forest could bring back hope for supporters over a top-four finish.

Here’s how United line up this afternoon at the City Ground to take on Forest…

Confirmed Manchester United XI to face Nottingham Forest

Starting XI: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Lindelof, Dalot; Casemiro, Eriksen; Sancho, Fernandes, Antony; Martial

Substitutes: Butland, Jurado, Williams, Fred, Pellestri, Iqbal, Elanga, Weghorst

Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof return to the United starting XI with Martinez and Varane out injured as Diogo Dalot is shifted out to left-back with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia also absent this afternoon to face Forest.

Despite a changed backline, the return of Casemiro in a Premier League starting XI is a welcome sight for the Manchester giants, with the Brazilian’s availability something that will be key in United’s push for a top-four finish this season.

With Marcus Rashford still out injured, Antony starts out on the left with Anthony Martial again leading the line having impressed for United against Sevilla midweek, with Jadon Sancho again looking to impress under Ten Hag out on the right.

There was a late change to United’s starting XI as Christian Eriksen starts in central midfield following an injury to Marcel Sabitzer in the warm-up at the City Ground.
