Penultimate friendly

This is Manchester United’s sixth friendly of the summer. It began with three victories, and there have been three subsequent losses, although one was essentially an under-21 side.

Opponents Lens finished second in Ligue 1 last season, but have since lost key players Lois Openda and Seko Fofana.

This match is a notable one for Raphael Varane, playing against the side where he began his career.

It is more or less a full strength side, with new addition Rasmus Hojlund expected to be presented prior to kick-off.

Matej Kovar also returns to the squad, while Amad and Kobbie Mainoo miss out with injury.

United have another friendly match tomorrow (Sunday 6) against Athletic Bilbao, which will take place in Ireland.

The club’s Premier League campaign then kicks off the following Monday, at home to Wolves.
