Christian Eriksen dazzles against Aston Villa with influential cameo

Christian Eriksen played a huge part in Manchester United’s 4-2 win against Aston Villa in tonight’s Carabao Cup third-round tie at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old started the cup clash against the Villains on the bench, but the influential Denmark international came off the bench with 30 minutes remaining.

While Fred and Scott McTominay had struggled to get a stranglehold of the game, United’s number 14 oozed class when he came on and the rest of the United side seemingly calmed down with the former Brentford man entering the fray.

United’s Scandinavian midfield maestro didn’t have the best of games at Villa Park, but with him dictating the tempo and the game becoming increasingly stretched, Unai Emery’s side were cut apart by our bargain free transfer signing.

The 117-time Denmark international already has five assists to his name since signing with the twenty-time league champions.

During his cameo, Eriksen finished the clash at the Theatre of Dreams with 100% pass accuracy with him completing all 17 of his attempted passes.

Alongside 22 touches, Eriksen created five chances, which was comfortably more than any other player on the pitch.

Having started tonight’s game on the bench, both Eriksen and his usual midfield partner Casemiro are likely to come back into the starting line-up for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Fulham at Craven Cottage, which will be our last game before the World Cup.

Eriksen and our Brazilian midfield enforcer will then head to Qatar where they will be crucial to their respected nation’s chances of glory in the Middle East.
