Bruno Fernandes scored an incredible goal putting Manchester United 2-0 ahead v Galatasaray, but what he did before was equally impressive.

On what was an extremely wet night in Istanbul, Turkey, Manchester United were involved in yet another high-scoring, dramatic Champions League night.

Manchester United drew 3-3 with Galatasaray, throwing away a two-goal lead twice they will be bitterly disappointed. One man who can however hold his head high is United’s captain Bruno Fernandes who scored and assisted in the first half.

Fernandes expertly put Alejandro Garnacho through to open the scoring before he scored a thunderous goal from range.

But for as good as the goal was, Robbie Savage was more impressed by what the Portugal international did before his goal.

Robbie Savage praises Bruno Fernandes

Speaking during the first half while commentating for TNT Sports, Savage watched Fernandes score a wondergoal but remarked on his excellent positioning instead.

“The positions he’s taking up on the flank are fantastic they can’t get near him! He takes the ball forward, a brilliant pass from Shaw, space to drive into and he’s smashed it, the goalkeeper had no chance.”

Fernandes drifted wide to find himself in the pocket of space that he then launched towards the goal from before his top-class goal.

His excellent game IQ came in useful and he reaped the rewards with his lethal finishing.

Fernandes can hold his head high

Fernandes can hardly be blamed for the collapse which once again plagued United as it has done so many times this season.

After the game, the captain spoke to TNT Sports in which he admitted the result was difficult to take, as he was desperate to win, and was seen fuming with Anthony Martial toward the end of the game.

“It’s really hard. We conceded really bad goals. We have to take control of the situations in all of them.”

Fernandes is right, but he did excellently. The defence needs to figure out how to stop this catastrophic self-destructive nature which they are showing currently.
