Manchester United sent fans at Old Trafford home happy on Thursday night with a huge 4-1 win over Real Sociedad.

It was a performance that Ruben Amorim would have been waiting to see from his team, with the scoreline generous to Real Sociedad.

Manchester United went behind early to the visiting side from the penalty spot, but it did not last long before Bruno Fernandes tied things up with a penalty of his own.

Fernandes scored a second goal from the spot in the second half to put United ahead, before he soon got his third to complete a sensational performance from the club captain.

The scoring was rounded out by Diogo Dalot as he drilled home Rasmus Hojlund’s pass into the roof of the net, handing United a massive 4-1 win which could soon prove to be a watershed moment.

Patrick Dorgu puts in a sensational display for Manchester United

Fernandes was United’s standout performer in the game and deserved to be with his hat-trick a sensational moment.

However, while the headlines will be written about Fernandes, Patrick Dorgu also deserves plenty of praise for his performance.

Dorgu was sensational on the left for United, running relentlessly which Sociedad simply couldn’t handle, leading to him winning a penalty and also causing a defender to be handed a red card.

He was end to end and looked as comfortable in the final third as he did winning the ball back from his opponents. It was a statement performance by Dorgu which has announced his arrival as a force for United.

The perfect fit for Amorim’s system, Dorgu looks undroppable on the left with qualities which make United a much better team. Scarily for opponents, he is still only 20 years old.

How Patrick Dorgu played for Manchester United in 4-1 win

Dorgu had his best game for United since joining for £25m in January as he played the entire 90 minutes with some impressive numbers tacked up during the game.

Dorgu’s constant running in behind was impossible for Sociedad to stop as Fernandes found him time after time, but his solidity in defence also deserves praise.

The Dane was back helping out Ayden Heaven in defence one moment, dominating the Sociedad defenders, and the next he was racing through into the opponent’s box.

If Dorgu can play like this every week, he will go on to be a very special player.
