Manchester United are through to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Erik ten Hag‘s side emerged 4-2 victors over League Two side Newport County – but they didn’t make it easy for themselves.

Two of Manchester United‘s stand-out performers on the night had to be midfield duo Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes.

Those two were different gravy, and both got on the score sheet for the Red Devils.

Bruno Fernandes sends Kobbie Mainoo a message

Bruno got the ball rolling for Manchester United. His seventh-minute strike was a beautiful finish after some nice build-up.

Mainoo then got on the scoresheet just six minutes later. The 18-year-old expertly swept home into the bottom corner to grab his first-ever senior goal for the first-team squad.

His captain, took to Instagram to congratulate him on this, posting a classy four-word message to his story. It read: ‘First of many kid.’

Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo were ace

The two had a really good game and showcased just how good they were against weaker opposition.

The Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes spoke to BBC One after the fixture about the result: “Obviously it was not the result that we wanted, we got the win that we wanted but the result was not the perfect one for us. We didn’t want to concede goals, the first one was great from them, an unbelievable shot.

“We had chances to make the 3-0 but when you get 2-0 in these type of games everyone wanted to score and get their goal and everything and sometimes we don’t get the best decision for the team. I think after we did a great job to close the game.”

He added about his goal: “It was a good goal but we trained on it in the week. We knew that we had spaces with the cutback, Kobbie Mainoo’s goal was the same. We knew we could attack and overrun their midfield, we had space for the cutback and I think it resulted well.”

A great game from the duo and even better to see them both on the scoresheet.
