Bruno Fernandes reacts to Manchester United 0-0 Watford

Bruno Fernandes was typically tireless in Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Watford but his radar was off on the day.

He took eight shots, but only managed two on target, one of which was a wild late effort when he should have just kept the ball moving in stoppage time.

Fernandes was interviewed by MUTV after the game and was visibly dejected after a result which represents more dropped points in the race for the top four.

He said that United played well on the whole but their finishing let them down, which is a fair assessment of the game, not for the first time this season.

“We had many chances to score but it was one of those days where the ball was not going in. We have to understand what we can do better. We had big chances to score – myself, at least two – but we could have been here for another hour and a half and not scored.

“The performance was good but not good enough as we didn’t score goals. The next game is massive for us and our fans.

“Watford defended really well also, we have to say that. It was one of those days. We tried and had the chances but the ball doesn’t go in and we’ve just got one point.

“Now is not the time to think about how many points we should have, we just need to look to the next game and it is one of those games you know what it means for the city, fans, club and ourselves and we want to win at all costs.”

Bruno was honest in his assessment of the team’s display and his own finishing but this is a familiar problem for United now.

Recent games have not been killed off at 1-0, and it has come back to bite United but today we did not score at all and it was the first 0-0 draw of the season.

A game against Manchester City could be a good one to recover in because everyone will be up for it but you could hardly choose more formidable opponents right now.

United will have to be more ruthless and clinical against City because they simply will not get the same volume of chances and there is a tough run of games ahead.
