Bruno Fernandes hails Manchester United front three after Crystal Palace win

Bruno Fernandes paid tribute to three Manchester United teammates after the 3-1 friendly win over Crystal Palace.

With the UK experiencing sizzling temperatures, United played in cold conditions in Melbourne against Patrick Vieira’s side.

Anthony Martial made it three goals in three pre-season games when he opened the scoring to make it 1-0 going into half-time.

After the break, fellow forwards Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho found the back of the net to put United 3-0 up, before Palace netted a consolation.

Bruno Fernandes praises United front three v Palace

Speaking to MUTV after the game, Fernandes praised Martial, Rashford and Sancho for their goals but also their work off the ball.

“We have been much more aggressive now,” said Bruno. “Firstly, the three guys up front have been really aggressive and when they press, they press really strong.

“The last line squeezes, and it makes the midfield push up a little higher. Everyone wants to score goals but the main ones have to be the strikers.

“They have to be there to give us goals. They are doing really well and we need to keep supporting them.”

The Cristiano Ronaldo situation continues to loom over United’s pre-season, with it not clear whether the Portuguese superstar will be here when the transfer window closes.

Martial looks refreshed and sharp during pre-season, but can he really do it over the course of a campaign at the level United need?

That is the huge question, and that is just one reason why the Ronaldo situation needs sorting as soon as it is possible to do so.

Rashford and Sancho will be looking to get back into the England squad for the World Cup and if they take this form into the new term, they will be going the right way about it.
