Manchester United stars Antony and Lisandro Martinez have given their thoughts ahead of Sunday’s League Cup final against Newcastle United, with the duo confident of getting a result at Wembley Stadium.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the Brazilian winger and Argentine defender are full of confidence as United prepare for their first domestic cup final in almost five years, with Erik Ten Hag keen to break the Red Devils’ long-standing trophy draught.
Indeed, the atmosphere around Old Trafford is as good as it has ever been since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013, and with key players such as Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes in fantastic form, the odds are truly in United’s favour this afternoon.
And for Antony and Martinez, the duo are both confident that different factors will lead to United getting the best of Newcastle in the English capital, where supporters will be hopeful of Ten Hag winning his first piece of silverware for the Manchester giants.
Antony believes fans will lead United to League Cup success

Having eliminated FC Barcelona from the UEFA Europa League, Antony heads to the League Cup final with the biggest confidence boost any player could ask for, yet the 23-year-old winger believes the Red Devils faithful will play as big a role as his Thursday night winner.
The former Ajax superstar said on how important the fans will be at Wembley: “I’d like to say to them [the fans] to keep on supporting us and believing in us. Obviously, our fans never give anything less than 100% in all of our games, they’re always there for us.
“They need to keep at this as it’s really important for us to feed off their energy and have them there. When we’re on the pitch we feel like we’ve got an extra gear, so we want them to keep believing in us because we’re always fighting for them.”
Martinez lauds club spirit and dressing room atmosphere

If there’s one United player who will relish playing on the biggest stage in English football, it’s Martinez, who recently played at Wembley for Argentina in the 2022 Finalissima as the reigning world champions swept aside Italy in a 3-0 win.
With experience at winning a Wembley cup final already on his CV, Martinez is prepared for United’s biggest match in some time. And the defender is proud of the current atmosphere around the club, with the centre-back saying: “The mood is amazing here, everybody is positive, we have a lot of motivation as well.
“We are hungry, we want to win and that’s the mentality of the team. The motivation is really high, you know?
“This club demands to win trophies, so the minimum is to win every final. We’re looking forward [to it] for sure. Like I said, every game is really important, and we need that support from our fans.”
